Eligibility

Enrolled undergraduate and graduate students are eligible for Student Health Insurance coverage. As of the 15th calendar day of fall and spring semesters, students who are registered for and participating in nine (9) or more hours of credit and are assessed general/mandatory fees are also automatically included and assessed a fee for Student Health Insurance.

Continuous year‐round coverage is available. If a student is participating in six or more credit hours of pre‐registered summer course work (by May 20, 2024), which assesses general/mandatory fees, the student is automatically enrolled in, and assessed a fee for the Plan. If a student received academic credit for at least nine hours & was insured in the spring, and will not enroll for sufficient summer hours to be assessed an insurance fee, the summer fee can be applied for through MYISU. After Central Login, click on Student Center, then the NavBar (top right of page), then Menu, then ISU Extensions, and finally Student Health Insurance (see path here). If using a mobile device, after signing into MYISU & clicking on Student Center, click on the three dots on the top right of screen, then the Navbar, then Menu, then ISU Extensions, and finally Student Health Insurance. Summer 2024 coverage can be requested beginning the week of April 8, 2024 through May 20, 2024.

The Student Health Insurance fee does not buy access to the Student Health Service. For information on Student Health Service eligibility, view our Student Fees.

Professional Practice, Internship, Student Teaching, Graduate Assistantship

Students who will not be registered for sufficient credit hours in the summer to qualify for Student Health Insurance because of academic program requirements (i.e., interns, student teachers, graduate assistants) are eligible to purchase the summer coverage by applying through MYISU between April 8th and May 20th.

Study Abroad

Students registered at ISU for Study Abroad are assessed the Student Health Insurance fee. Such students are eligible to apply to expand the coverage period by direct payment of the premium for the previous or subsequent term, dependent upon program dates and requirements.

Dissertation or Thesis Students

Insured spring students enrolling for fewer than 6 credit hours in the summer due to the writing of a dissertation or thesis, are eligible to purchase the summer coverage by applying through MYISU between April 8th and May 20th.

Graduating Students

Insured graduating students who will not be enrolled in classes during the following term may continue coverage for one additional term. Students graduating in May are eligible to purchase summer coverage by applying through MYISU between April 8th and May 20th.
