Eligibility

Fall and Spring Eligibility

Students enrolled in 9 or more credit hours in the fall or spring are automatically enrolled in the Student Health Insurance plan, as long as they are registered and assessed general/mandatory fees by the 15th calendar day of the semester.

Summer Eligibility

Students enrolled in 6 or more credit hours in the summer are automatically enrolled in the Student Health Insurance plan, as long as they are registered and assessed general/mandatory fees by the 8th calendar day of the semester.  

Students can also extend coverage through the summer or for one term after graduation by applying through MyISU

Special Enrollment Options

Some students can also apply for coverage following the instructions above, even if they don’t meet the automatic enrollment criteria:

Interns, Student Teachers, Graduate Assistants

If you are enrolled in fewer than 9 credit hours in spring, you can apply for spring coverage between Dec. 9 – Jan. 27.

2025 Professional Practice Student Health Insurance Certification form (Use for Fall '25, Spring '26, and Summer '26.)

2025 Graduate Assistant Student Health Insurance Certification form (Use for Fall '25, Spring '26, and Summer '26 contracts.)

Study Abroad Students
You’ll be charged the insurance fee. You may extend your coverage for an additional term depending on your program dates.

Dissertation or Thesis Students
If you had fall insurance and are enrolled in fewer than 9 credit hours in spring, you can apply for spring coverage between Dec. 9 – Jan. 27.

Graduating Students
If you had insurance and are not enrolled for the next term, you can buy one additional term of coverage. Apply for coverage between Dec. 9 – Jan. 27.

How to Extend or Apply for Student Health Insurance Plan Coverage in MyISU

You can request Student Health Insurance coverage through MyISU by following these steps:

On a computer:

  • Log in to MyISU using Central Login.
  • Click Student Center.
  • Click the NavBar (top right corner).
  • Select Menu > ISU Extensions > Student Health Insurance.

On a mobile device:

  • Log in to MyISU and go to Student Center.
  • Tap the three dots in the top right corner.
  • Tap the NavBar, then go to Menu > ISU Extensions > Student Health Insurance.
