Labs and Imaging
Student Health Services provides a wide range of diagnostic services to support student care.
Laboratory Services
The SHS laboratory is a federally-certified (CLIA) facility offering a range of services. The lab is staffed by registered laboratory technologists and technicians and participates in annual proficiency testing.
The SHS lab performs a variety of general diagnostic tests, and a comprehensive range of lab tests is also available through our reference lab. Lab tests are ordered by an SHS clinician. Patients requesting lab tests ordered by a non-ISU clinician can be accommodated by calling Appointments at (309) 438-2778 or Nurse Consult at (309) 438-7676.
- Lab Results: Copies are available through the Medical Records unit.
- Billing: Charges are applied to your student account. For insurance reimbursement, invoices may be requested from the Business Office.
Almost any test can be ordered through SHS. Commonly requested tests include:
- Basic Metabolic Profile
- Complete Blood Count (CBC)
- Chlamydia/GC Screen

- Rapid Group A Strep

Radiology Services
The SHS Radiology unit provides professional imaging services and electrocardiograms (ECG) using advanced diagnostic technology. General X-rays, ordered by an SHS clinician, help identify bone or tissue injuries or other conditions.
The unit is staffed by licensed radiographers and certified by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency’s Department of Nuclear Safety to ensure safe, high-quality procedures. All X-rays are available immediately to SHS clinicians and fully interpreted by an off-site radiologist.
For X-rays or ECGs ordered by non-ISU providers, the provider should fax the order to 309-438-5205. Once received, Radiology staff will contact the patient to schedule a Radiology-Only Appointment. Results will be interpreted by an off-site radiologist and faxed directly to the ordering provider.
- Imaging Fee: A $5 charge applies to each exam.
- Exam Copies: A digital copy of your exam is available upon request at no cost for continued care off campus. A photo ID is required.
